About me

Jose Manuel sang RODOLFO in «Luisa Miller» at the Opera Graz (giving his debut in Osterreich), RODOLFO in «La Boheme» at the Landstheater Coburg (Germany) and NARRABOTH in “Salome" at the Teatre Principal de Palma (Spain) in this season 2015/2016.

In the season 2014/2015, he sang ALFREDO in «La Traviata,» NARRABOTH in «Salome», BELMONTE in «Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serall» and RODOLFO in «La Boheme» at the Landstheater Coburg, Germany.

In 2014 he made his debut as RICARDO in Donizetti’s «Maria di Rohan» at the Janacek Opera Brno (with Lubica Vargicova in the title role), he sang IL DUCA in Madrid and the CREATION in Bratislava. In May/ June 2013, he sang the DUCA DI MANTOVA at the Summer Opera Alden Biesen, giving his debut in Belgium immediately after his debut in Germany. This very role, as well as the part of CASSIO in ‘Otello’ he performed in the season 13/14 at the Teatre Pricipal de Mallorca.

The young artist already performed in numerous operas, musicals and zarzuelas in the Spanish and French regions. He debuted as ALFREDO in La Traviata at the Festival Castell de Son Mas on Mallorca and sang Verdi’s Requiem with the Orquesta Sinfonica de les Illes Balears under the musical direction of José Maria Moreno. He could be seen in Die Zauberflöte (TAMINO), El anillo de Hierro (ERNESTO), Canço d’amor i guerra (ELOI), La Bruja (TOMILLO), Le Docteur Miracle (PASQUIN),.. just to name a few.

But above all the young tenor is a much sought-after concert singer. On his native island Mallorca he already guested in numerous recitals. He works together with various choirs and orchestras, of which the Baleares Symphony Orchestra or the Capella Mallorquina are particularly worth mentioning. His concert repertoire includes a.o. Puccini’s ‘Messa di Gloria’, Mozart’s ‘The Coronation Mass’ or CarÑ´+l Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’. Besides, he performed in opera concerts at the side of famous singers such as Joan Pons.
The Spanish opera magazine OPERA ACTUAL commented his performances as follows: […] with José Manuel, who proved his great brilliance with opera arias and Italian songs [...]. It is exciting to attend the beginning of a promising carreer. His voice was secure in every move, with an excellent line, always perserving the dramatic character of every role. Even the perfect pronociation in all languages was never neglected. The Mallorcan composer Joan Valent has composed some pieces especially for José Manuel. A CD with these works under the direction of J. Vicenc was produced at the moment by the German label Deutsche Grammophon.
